First thing I notice.. there's a line that's an hour long out the door.. @_@; Hey wait I thought Wondercon wasn't that popular? That's why I neglected to get a badge prior to arriving there. Stood in the 1 hour line and ate lunch with my friend JK (Our friend Eric had gone ahead inside since he already had a pass).. we ended up talking to a lady in front of us about work and apparently she worked at PBS and explained how they don't even have machines fast enough to run Adobe Premier on.. (It runs on a computer that I sold for about $50) @_o; I guess PBS really needs more support! Once we got inside we went to the dealer's hall since I'd already missed most of the Kevin Smith panel. JK and I roamed the dealer's hall for a while (he was searching for figurines mostly) - Most notable things there were: Undead holographic portrait paintings that changed from alive to dead when viewed from different angles, pr0n stars selling pictures of themselves who looked real old in person, and an amazing artist's alley with almost all professional artists. I was keeping an eye out for hoshikaji & pikacello since I thought they were already there, but they ended up getting to the con site quite a while after I did as it turns out. Once they arrived they went to go help(?) people with costume stuff so I went to go watch panels for a while w/ Eric and JK. The first panel I caught was the Pixar "Cars" panel. They showed a couple of clips of it. Ugh Nascar.. and the main car character makes me think Nemo got turned into a Nascar car :P I sure hope this movie is better than it seems to be. 2nd "panel" was Silent Hill.. but all it ended up being was the trailer that you can see online and a new preview cut (featuring Pyramid head).. it was quite cool! After that was the Return of Superman movie panel with Brian Singer(director) and Brandon Routh(Superman). Those guys had some fun answering questions for the fans.. and showed a new trailer clip of the movie which didn't reveal much of anything.. it was still neat to see though. Once the panels ended (on the trailer for "V For Vendetta" w/ shaved head Natalie Portman) I met up with the Ramen&Rice sisters finally.. and ended up hanging with them the rest of the con. We went up to the Masquerade area and met up with a bunch of "the usual suspects" which included ziggybecket, AJ, Eurobeat Al, lionboogy.. etc. we had a great time just sitting around chatting and waiting for the Masq to start. Discussions included "Pee and Poo" plushes (I'm not kidding they're like Sanrio-style Pee and Poo plushes), Ziggy's resistence to cosplay "Haado Gei", Blade of the Immortal, and my lineage and how I got lactose intollerance from my Japanese side and alcohol tollerance from my Irish side. @_@; The actual Masq was pretty good even if it was overloaded with Star Wars entries.. they were all decent. :) The Obi-Wan vs. Grievous skit was amazing (well mostly the Grievous costume) just brilliant the way that was done. That basically ended the night and we went home. The end.
PS - It was a blast seeing you all! I hope to see everyone again soon. :)
Haha nope no Randall. And yeah I heard about J-Town.. hmm I dunno what's going to happen with that.
I got lactose intollerance from my Japanese side and alcohol tollerance from my Irish side.
But who cares about milk? Alcohol all the way! That's what counts!
I don't like to drink alcohol tho.. :P
It was grand times! Thanks for hanging with us and helping to guide us out of the city. Seriously, we would have been there at least another half an hour without you!
I agree wholeheartedly! I enjoyed hanging out immensely! :) Ahh yeah SF is a headache for sure.. I'm glad I could help.. that's my old school neighborhood so I know it like the back of my hand. ^^
Hahaha.. I first read that as "Pee and Poo" slushies despite having heard of Pee and Poo before. XD
Woah! That'd be disgusting! XD
